More stuff you don’t care about!
Joshua Fit For Battle - Sleepwalkers GuideI’ve been sick the past two days.
I guess I’m off to a bad start this year.
Right now I’ve been feeling the urge to stretch my lobes again. I was at 13/16 inch, and downsized to 3/4 inch because my lobes were looking thin and I wanted to thicken them up. Well, I’ve been at 3/4 since August, and I’m going to be taking my jewelry out and letting them go down even further, probably to a 1/2 inch. Hopefully they will get that small, everyone’s body is different so you never know. I’ll stay at 1/2 inch for a few months and then start working my way back up. My ultimate goal is 1-1/4 inch, so I am downsizing to get more tissue in preparation for such a large size. When I was 9, my ears were pierced with a gun at a mall (please never get pierced with a gun!), and they were done a little too low and uneven, so now I struggle with a thin right lobe because of the poor placement. I am hoping downsizng and re-stretching will remedy the problem, and give me more tissue to work with for the future.
The idea is that when you stretch, there are tears in the skin on a microscopic level. The body produces collagen to fill in those tears, thus giving you more skin than you started with. If I downsize and re-stretch, with every stretch I do, I am gaining more tissue from the collagen being produced. The fatter the lobe, the easier it is to stretch, and the healthier the ear.
It is the same idea with a pregnant woman – her belly gets larger and the skin tears (sometimes resulting in stretch marks) and the body makes collagen and gives her more skin to cover the growing belly. Ever see a woman who’s had children and ended up with a lot of excess skin? Well, that’s my goal as far as downsizing my stretched ears. Wish me luck!

Well I hope you’re feeling better now! Good luck with stretching, if you set your goals and can stick with the plans you make, I’m sure you’ll reach the goals.

Stretching is such a fun thing to do! I always had crappy earlobes too so I figured I couldn’t stretch at all because it was done with a gun too but now that I did, I only have a 2g, it doesn’t irritate at all! Didn’t know you could downsize that easily though. Good luck with reaching that size!

I’ve wanted to stretch my ears for the longest time, but never really gotten round to it xD Probably something I should add to my ‘to do in 2008′ list

The first time my ears were pierced, my cousin did them with a sewing needle and an ice cube. That was 20 years ago or so and I’ve never had a hitch.
My mother, on the other hand, had hers done with a gun and ended up with poorly placed holes. They were far too close to her face. Nasty.

wow thats so weird I always wondered about that kind of stuff. I just want a tatoo my college wouldnt allow me to have any jewelery like that if its not worn in moderation. I feel like I’ve learnt something new

No pain no gain! I did find a way to stretch my lobes in about six hours when I went to 5/8″, though. More than anything I was just angry that I hadn’t figured it out sooner.
Good luck, though. My right lobe is skinnier than my left and it just annoys me.

Ha, I’ve never heard of stretching lobes being compared to a pregnant belly! It’s kinda funny if you think of it that way, lol. Good luck with the stretching.

I’ve thought about doing that but I don’t think my body would take it, I had to take out all my rings for various problems, I can’t even wear my vanilla earrings, lol.

My father (who was an anatomy professor) was present when I got my ears pierced (Claire’s in the mall! lol) so he made sure they got the proper anatomical placement lol. Good luck with stretching your lobes!

I never understood the appeal of gaging your ears, but I do find it interesting.

I’ve always wondered about this – what do you do if you don’t want your.. holes.. anymore. Can you just take them out and the big holes will disappear – wont you be able to see it afterwards?!
sorry if I sound stupid

hmmm im with cecelia.. ive never understood why you would want to stretch your ears in the first place.. i mean personally i dont find huge gaping holes in my ears very attractive.. but each to their own.
What happens when you 50 and you have huge holes in your ears?
Do they go back to normal?

So I really wanna gauge my ears, but I’ve heard some not so good things about it. But at least you take good care of yours and CARE about your ears!

LOL so many of everyones comments are so funny! Especially the ones where they are like “I don’t see why you would do that?” Aww :3 I love gauged ears!! I think they are amazing looking. I prefer gauged ears, actually. Good luck on getting your lobes right! My left lobe is slightly bigger than my right lobe, my mom pierced my ears when I was 6 months old with a sewing needle and a candle, and I think being a screaming baby just rushed her and she didn’t pierce them evenly. :/ oh well, maybe I’ll do what you said and downsize then re-stretch again?

Thank you for mentioning why stretching and downsizing thickens earlobes! I’d read that it would but no one else bothered to explain why or how. Good luck on your ears! I’m in pretty much the exact same boat as you…(evil mall gun/one side lower).
Thank you! =D
