Dragging myself out of the Winter Blues.

Circle Takes the Square – Eleven Owls Have Eyes

I was going to scan new images for my scan site, and then found out that my scanner doesn’t work with Vista. I’ve been finding little annoyances like this for the past few weeks I’ve had Vista and it’s frustrating. Of course, I didn’t pay for it or anything so I’m not fuming that it sucks so bad. Anyway, I found this fix which shows how to use the XP drivers/software for hp scanners on Vista. Pretty cool that I don’t need to actually buy a new scanner, which is what greedy HP recommended.

Okay, so Converge is playing here in March and even though we just saw them last year, I’m ecstatic. We bought our tickets already since it will definitely sell out. Since I’ve lived in Buffalo, not many bands that I like have played, and it’s a shame because Buffalo is the second largest city in New York. It’s unfair, but I guess bands don’t want to drive here or something. Darkest Hour is playing in (I think) February, which will be a treat because I used to be very much into them, especially as a teenager, and yet I’ve never seen them live. I don’t know what they’ve done recently, but hopefully they didn’t go the way Every Time I Die went a few years ago. rofl Metalcore is a tricky thing, folks.

My cat has been chewing on USB cords lately. He wakes me up at night, trying to climb on the computer, and last night he knocked my ipod off the desk. I’ve read about animals chewing on wires, and it’s scary because what if he chewed on the tv cord while it’s plugged in or something? I mean, couldn’t that potentially kill him?

I know I said I was going to post more often, and it’s harder than I thought it’d be. It’s not quite a chore, but it’s not as fun as it used to be. I’d really love to be passionate about web design and blogging again. Has anyone used Wordpress 2.7? The admin panel is totally weird. It’s cleaner… but at the same time, I’m very confused. confused WP has used the older interface (top-heavy navigation) from the beginning, and this is looking more CMS-like now. I haven’t made up my mind about it yet.

Nobody I like comes to Michigan either. I went to Detroit to see KISS with my dad when I was 10. That’s about the only band that comes here. KISS and rap artists. Occassionally someone comes to Chicago but it always conflicts with work or something.

I don’t know anything about Wordpress, I have Greymatter installed on my site at the moment. I don’t care for it.

By the way, I’m closing my domain soon. I’m sick of getting yelled at by Mike or Juan everytime I post something they don’t like. I’m considering registering a new one, but I’ll have to let you know for sure. If so, I’ll be testing out WP on that.

Maybe it’s because I grew up on Long Island and am pretty “metro-centric” when it comes to New York, but Buffalo seems really out of the way in NY. It’s right up there near Canada!

I’ve settled in with the new admin panel on 2.7, but I don’t like it at all lol. I liked the old admin panel, and the “dropdown menus” plugin I had for the top navigation lol.

buffalo isn’t that far north. it’s more west than north. people seem to think that because of the snow it’s way up there, but the lake is the major source of all the snow.

to explain further, when a cold weather front moves in over the lake (because it retains heat for a while), this causes larger amounts of precipitation, thereby making buffalo the perfect location for a snow-dump.

however, buffalo is the second-largest city in new york. so it really doesn’t matter if it’s out of the way. on top of that, buffalo is the netering point for more than two-thirds of the trade that occurs between the u.s. and canada, and is only an hour and a half from canada’s largest city, toronto. i wouldn’t exactly call that out of the way.

People from Buffalo usually have to travel here to Toronto to see everything. We even get people from Michigan too. Occasionally there are bands I want to see there but usually old bands. I don’t see how people don’t recognize Buffalo. When they’re on tour, usually coming from NYC, stopping in Buffalo before going into T.O makes sense lol

As for the new WP, it was an adjustment for me but I love it now. It makes more sense once you really play with it. cute
