It’s always a small group of ne’er-do-wellers that wrongly associate themselves with a group or subculture that get all the publicity and end up giving that group/subculture a bad rap.

I don’t know if that made sense, so here are some examples:

When one thinks of Pagans and Witches, they think of Satan-worshiping people who sacrifice animals and put hexes on people. This is partially due to lies put forth by the Christian church, but also because a few stupid people have done bad things in the name of Paganism, and unfortunately, that’s what stands out to people. MOST Pagans and Witches are peaceful, nature-loving people who’s only “spells” are done for gain, protection, happiness, or prosperity. The Wiccan Rede (our “code of ethics” if you will) state, “Do what thou wilt, and harm ye none.”

I was straight edge until I hit 21. Can’t really say that now, since I drink, but I still avoid smoking. And, although I’m a virgin, it doesn’t mean that I don’t think about sex.

That program indeed sounds very amusing, and interesting.

I think I’ll soon find out if her hands are experts in other things than textmsging :)
I think Straight Edge is a really good lifestyle and I admire people who stick to it,they are really strong.
Too bad that they are treated like that at some places – here in Germany the term isn’t even widely known so I think it’s not that much of a “problem”…

Claire: straight edge is just a term that some people who are drug free refer to themselves as. It's a sort of scene within the hardcore community, and also a life-choice. People who are straight edge do not take drugs (including cigarettes and alcohol) and they lead a generally healthy, poison-free lifestyle. You can read up on the history of it over at wikipedia.

I saw a clip online about the “Hammered” organization at BU or Northeastern… and apparently there are only about a handful of members and most of the people at the bowling alley were just there to take up space. Totally shitty. I expected more along the lines of actually finding sxe bands and filming them (but maybe they did and I just missed it?).
