A birthday and a funeral. How poetic!
Encyclopedia of American Traitors - Accept and SettleJustin attended his great-grandmother’s funeral today. He left last night however, so he could drive there together with his family. It’s just me and Mr. Bojangles in this freezing apartment now. It was so quiet last night, I had to turn on the TV. I kept one of those XM stations on all night. Today I have to go to the animal hospital to pick up more of Bo’s prescription food. Some might recall that very scary bladder problem he had, and almost died from. We still have to feed him special ($$) food. I guess it’s a small price to pay for a loving, adorable kitty!
Over the past week, I ordered a lot of records from Ebay, Amazon and Robotic Empire. It’s so exciting getting music in the mail - or anything for that matter (minus anthrax). I wonder what we’ll listen to first. I have a feeling Justin will decide on his own, because he’s completely obsessive and weird with new music.
Justin turns 23 in under 5 days. There are some plans made, but I’m not sure if I want to partake in all of them yet. I’m so antisocial anymore. Justin is always excited around his birthdays, and his mom always makes a big fuss - reminding him that his “birthday is coming”, sometime in February, then for the next 2-3 months, he won’t shut up about it. Growing up, I got $20 for my birthday, and a cake if I was lucky. That’s how a lot of group homes and foster homes are. The last birthday party I had was when I was 4. I know I sound sardonic and bitchy right now, but a birthday is just one more year gone forever. After I turned 16 (5 years ago…) I started feeling old on my birthdays, and I don’t see that changing any time in the future.

I don’t get excited about my birthday, either. I feel more older and useless every year and end up getting depressed instead. I hate parties of any kind because I have real bad anxiety, and I despise presents because I feel there are more important things people could spend their money on.
You’re not alone.

i try to make my birthday special but it ends up kind of shitty. i dont know what i’ll be doing this year but i hope it’ll be good. im turning 21. oooh. big deal? hahah. anyways. hope mr kitty cat gets better soon with the expensive food and stuff. happy birthday to justin :)
- Aichee
I know what you mean, birthdays just mark another year. My family never made a big deal out of them and now Chris and I don’t celebrate much either. Even when you try to make a big deal, everything goes wrong.

hahah. u named ur cat mr.bojangles. creative hehe. these past few days have shown me truly how antisocial i am. i get tired of being out with my friends b/c i prefer to just play on the computer or read a book lol. idk about the birthday. if they’re pretty crappy, u don’t ever want to think about em. like i usually don’t like my birthdays b/c i have to be with my family but this yr i got a camera so it made it all better lol.

Our friends have a dog named Mr. Bojangles, but we all just call him Bo or Bobo. I’ve always had birthdays like Justin, but my husband has always had birthdays like you. Funny reading this entry today, just last night he told me that he didn’t even have a 12th birthday at all. It’s so sad.

Actually, I’m super impressed by your layout skills right here. You really seem to get the hang of wordpress! I’m so sorry his great grandmother died, and that’s a little ironic that his birthday is close by.
- Vicki
Aww I’m sorry Justin’s great-grandmother died :(
My birthdays always were like Justin’s,too, and it makes me kinda sad to hear about yours…
Oh,I just remembered I didn’t even thank you for your comment on my last entry yet,so THANK YOU!
It was so nice and so sweet and helped me alot
- tina
sorry about the great grandmother’s death…god to know you’ve still got your cat :)
and although birthdays are another year gone,it’s another year your eyes get to see, after all,you could be dead.

I’ve noticed the same thing… I just feel old. The only exciting thing about turning 25 is that your insurance goes down. After 21 it’s just not exciting anymore lol
- Veronica
I’m an eBay & online shopaholic, too! I know how it feels to get something new in the mail almost everyday
- Aileen
Awww love *hugs* I do have to admit, I am one of those people like Justin who gets really excited for their birthday, but I’m pretty sure that will stop when I turn 21 and don’t want to get any older, lmao =D
- Natasha
I sleep with my sirius station on all night. But that’s just because I can’t sleep without music playing. :/
Ebay is awesome.
You bought records? That’s cool. I wish I had a record player. Not one of those new lookin ones, I want an old genuine record player, not some stupid combo cd/record/tape player.
You and Justin are backwords of me and Cory, with birthday things anyways. Me and my friends tend to make a big deal over bdays and cory never has (execpt when he turned 21).
- Becca
Wow, you buy records! Omg, it must be so exciting when they arrive. I don’t have even one to my name.
Don’t feel bad. I agree with Ally — there are more important things people could spend their money on. I think that Justin’s family just have that culture of doing special things just because it’s someone’s birthday.
I don’t like my birthday cause I always feel old too.
I’m sure he would understand how you feel, and i’m sure he doesn’t expect everyone else in the whole world to put so much effort into birthday celebrations either. There are plenty of people in many countries and cultures who do not celebrate their birthdays.
But still, you have the power to put a different spin on things. There is good and bad to everything, and i’m sure there is something nice about celebrating birthdays, though I don’t know what it is.
You don’t have to be too elaborate with the plan. I’m sure he’ll like a celebration that’s something subtle and simple. Usually those are the most special and meaningful.

Birthdays mean diff things to everyone. It’s just how the idea is projected and how we are raised (the environment). I don’t enjoy my own birthdays that much since I’m hitting 30 next year but when I was younger, I would turn a whole entire week or just a week into my birthdays and consider myself a queen. My parents made a big deal about it so I did that too as I became an adult. Eh, diff strokes for diff folks.

I usually hate having my birthday as it means another year older but for some reason this time around I was really excited about it! Eh I must have just had a weird moment! I have to admit my parents would make a big deal about it if I wanted to have a huge do. Usually though I just spend time with the family and then go a meal with my friends.
