It’s Shark Week, people!

It’s been hot hot hot out lately. I am already looking forward to fall. On Sunday, I went to a tiny amusement park called Martin’s Fantasy Island. It caters to families and little kids more than adults, but I still had fun. Justin’s family is visiting from New Mexico (his uncle works and lives there), so it was a family thing. All together it was Justin, his uncle, his grandfather, two cousins, his grandfather’s wife, and me. I remembered to wear sunscreen this time, and am very happy.

It’s Shark Week on Discovery Channel. Justin and I are pretty excited - a response that’s pretty much coded in our nerd DNA. lmao Justin is scared to swim in the ocean because of these creatures, even though I assure him it is so rare and he can’t live in fear, and these shows either ease his fear or make it worse. Hopefully not the latter. Since he grew up here along the Great Lakes, far from the sea, he had never even seen the ocean. In fact, not until out trip to Spain in 2005 did he get to see or swim in the ocean. His first swim was at night, and he was convinced we’d be eaten by a shark or something. I wonder if all people born far inland have this fear of sharks and the ocean. I remember seeing the Jaws movies when I was 9 and being scared of sharks for about a month, but the fear evaporated once we actually hit the beach. Anyway, I hope Justin gets over it by next summer. I’m already counting down the months until we hit Italy & Greece! love

I’ve always been so scared of sharks! Ever since I was little when I saw “Jaws”! I remember right after I saw it I had to take a bath and I was so scared!!!! I really believed a shark was in my tub. LOL And don’t even get me started about the beach.

I actually think they are very fascinating…in a very scary way.

    Wow Italy and Greece? AWESOME!

Aww I love amusment parks, but I must say I love the ones with rollercoasters ; )

I went to Florida one year and went to an amusement park with a jaw’s ride and I was so afraid to go on it I didn’t, but while I was waiting for my brother and father to get off I was so upset I didn’t x(

But yeah, Jaw’s scared the shiznit out of me =P So I’m right along with Justin, growing up in Maine =D

So.. your taking me to Italy right? =P

I may be tougher than the average mid-eastern-er…but I’m really not afraid of sharks. Of course…I watched A LOT of horror movies growing up. Annnd I did make at least one trip to Florida a year for a lot of my childhood. And it always included beach trips. So who knows.

My sister’s horrified of them and she wasn’t really influenced by either of those.

Plus, the scariest thing about Lake Michigan is the dead fish that wash up onto the beach. laugh

Firstly, I love sharks. Not ones swimming around in shallow waters or anything (which rarely ever happens, Justin!), but the ones in those nice glass tanks at the aquarium. :) Shark week is the best thing Discovery ever made. I don’t have cable, so my brother’s been TiVO-ing it for me. I watched some yesterday — awesome!

I’m so jealous that you’re going to Italy and Greece! Those are the two countries I want to visit the most! *Jealous*

I never liked the ocean, but that’s probably because I grew up on the north shore of Long Island and the Long Island sound is GROSS. And it’s not the sharks I’m afraid of, it’s the crabs! They hurt!

You’re not the only one looking forward to fall! Fall and Winter… I can’t wait. I love bundling up in cozy sweaters and blankets.

I was pretty scared of the ocean for years after seeing Jaws… but I did see it when I was 2, so that could have been the problem, lol.

I used to live on the coast, called the treasure coast, its right on the atlantic ocean. But anyways, shark attacks were common, but not all THAT common. I mean you had a higher chance of getting struck by lightning.

I love discovery and shark week! Omg, uber awesomeness :D Geeks unite <3
