Blue-Collar Bashing

I have had no phone service (thus no internet) since very late Wednesday night. Thursday, Friday, and most of today, I was plagued with bouts of painful boredom and frustration. Do you know how many debates Justin and I have over a 3-day period? Usually our pop culture disagreements are squashed with a quick visit to IMDb or Wikipedia. I have never loved the internet as much as I do right now. heart

The phone issue was most likely caused by the unsightly and completely annoying construction that’s been going on in Buffalo all this spring and summer. We live on Main Street, and they are currently ripping the entire thing up to make it prettier or safer or something. There are guys standing in big sections of the road and only their heads are visible… that is how deep they have stripped the road. Not only Main Street is affected either. The side entrance to our building is on another cute little street, and it also has been desecrated… as well as all the sidewalks. They cut down a gorgeous old tree and now there is a bunch of yellow machinery in it’s place. Justin tells me they will be putting brick on the sidewalks… basically they are trying to make this part of the city resemble the University District. I’m sure the gang bangers a few blocks away from us will find Main Street so aesthetically pleasing that they will cease all criminal activity and begin driving business back to Buffalo. Yessss!

It’s good news that I don’t have much to bitch about other than road construction. At the end of the day, I’m just thankful I don’t drive.

Damn, construction sucks. So does not having a phone. Hopefully the construction workers aren’t making too much noise.

man, our internet was down for a couple days because some idiot decided to drive right into the cable box at the end of the street. :/ It wasn’t fixed for 5 days it seemed like. The entire time I wasn’t home, because I hated having to suffer lack of internet. & if I had to be home, I was on my DS or trying to use the edge internet on my cellphone lol

We had a huge storm a couple summers ago and lost all power for days… I was so bored all I did was sleep! It’s really all I could do… no TV, no internet, no A/C and it was in the 100s with high humidity (and we live on the third floor!).

    Horrible!

I went through the same thing a few months ago. It turns out some cable was unplugged on the street or something.

Sorry about the construction, and it kinda sucks that they’re destroying streets just to put bricks down. Sorry about not having internet. I know the few times I haven’t had it I’ve missed it a lot XD

Having no internet sucks so badly. I know how you feel with construction. For the past few years, my area has been filled with loud construction machines and drills because of a sudden demand in real estate or something.
I guess collegiate-looking streets aren’t that bad. It’s usually harder to get gum stuck on them. laugh

Because in the process of making it safer, it is not a great big huge hazard right about now? lol

Sorry to hear about your lack of internet, I would die. No online money earning for me with no internet.

Damn that sucks about the whole construction thing…

It kinda doesn’t make any sense that they’re even doing that though…

Well at least you have your internet back. I love my internet too heart That’s how me and my boyfriend squash our disagreements also…WIKIPEDIA! Woot! The best invention since chocolate.

    Hope you’re doing good!

Actually, I should have been the first commenter on this post. But apparently it didn’t stick. And now I can’t really remember what it was about, but it was probably dumb anyway.

    You know how I get.

I’m looking for cheap-ish places to live in Kalamazoo. I probably won’t move for a couple of months still yet because I’m sort of nervous about it all, but once I do…I’m thinking someone may need to take a road trip.

    Juuust saying.

Birmingham is constantly being worked on or built up. It doesn’t matter how much digging and building they do it’s still gonna look as shit as before.

I’m glad your internet is back on. Three days is a long time to go! xxx
