The Bat Incident
City of Caterpillar - A Heart Filled Reaction to DissatisfactionClasses start for us on the 3rd and my wisdom teeth are coming out on the 4th. It sucks that I couldn’t get an appointment before school started. Justin just had dental work done yesterday, and in a few days he has an eye appointment because he’s getting new glasses. He picked out these D&Gs that are a little slimmer than his RayBans that he wears now. We both liked these Prada ones but they were like double the price. So yeah, next week will be pretty busy for us both.
Last week a bat somehow got into our apartment. I was blow-drying my hair after my shower, and out of the corner of my eye I see some black thing flying in the kitchen, and my first thought was bat, not bird. I began screaming “Bat! Oh my god! A bat! A fucking bat!” and shut myself in the bathroom. Justin was in another room on the computer and came out and was like “Bat? What do you mean? What are you talking about?” as the bat flew right past his head. It then became hilarious as he tried to catch it with a towel, and I was scrambling to get a window open and trying to shoo it out with the broom. Then Justin said something about rabies and I screamed and got scared again.
Anyway, it was an exciting 10 minutes because not much happens here.
I just got finished watching Alice in Wonderland a little bit ago, and in a little I’m going to head off to Rite Aid to get some of the notebooks they have on sale. I don’t have anything else to do today, so I’ll probably watch another Disney movie when I get back. I’m just in that little-kid mood.

Oh bat stories, everybody’s got ‘em. Including me…
Before we moved we lived in a house that’s really only 2 houses down from where we live now (yeah, we’re real adventurous), and one night my mom was in bed and felt like she was seeing something flying around in the dark. So she turned the light on, nothing. Turned it off and she’d just see it again. That went on for a few minutes before calling for my dad. She got back into bed and he started trying to find whatever she was talking about.
Finally a bat flew right at his face. He freaked, but mom through the blankets over her head and sat there screaming. I guess somewhere along the line she’d heard that bats would lay eggs in hair if given the chance. Dumb for many reasons, mostly because bats don’t lay eggs. lol.
So after that shock my dad grabbed a tennis racket and started swinging. Except, in the light it kept hidden somewhere so he turned them back off and kept swinging. lol, he got it eventually, but it makes me laugh picturing it all.
I found a letter from you the other day when I was cleaning and I think I’m going to try to remember to write one this week. I could do it now while I’m thinking about it, but that would be so unlike me. ;)

Ahaa. That’s funny. Bats aren’t even that bad. They just kinda fly around haha. I guess they’re kinda better off outside of your house, but regardless. They get rid of misquitos.. so I love them haha.
Disney’s always cool too. :) I love Alice in Wonderland.
- Justin
he he. that’s great. i needed a laugh.
- Hannah
Wow, a bat in the house? That’s insane! I’d probably react just like you!
Ouch about the wisdom teeth. They’re not always pleasant to take out. Hope it heals fast for you!
- Maria
Oh my god, this cracked me up. I would’ve locked myself into the bathroom, too. :)
- Chrstina
Hahahaha I love bats, but this was hilarious! Honestly, locking yourself in the bathroom & screaming. Priceless!
Bats, to me, are so cute LOL nevermind their freaky facial features, they’re so teeny tiny! & they won’t harm you unless you are trying to harm them. I’m sure that bat was so freaked out by the two of you coming at it with a broom & a towel, hahahaha poor thing!
Alice in Wonderland is amazing! I love the books!! Disney does have some great movies, but I’d say after the 90’s, everything just started to go downhill. I do love Finding Nemo though! & WALL-E (was that Disney? Or just Pixar? Hmm…) but yeah, The Little Mermaid
- Cher
ugh lucky you , we started school last week -_- i wish i coulda had those few days away from thinking about school!
- inna
I love how we go to the dentist around the same time. Luckily yours doesn’t look like Kumar from Harold & Kumar..
Alice and wonderland eh? I haven’t watched that movie since I was.. gah I don’t know.. four? My sister and I relived the magic of The Little Mermaid. Ah, childhood movies.. Although, my altime favorite disney movie has to be Aladdin..
Creepy about the bad. I’d be twice as scared as you were, but I don’t know what I’d hate more tho.. Mice or bats? hmm tough decision!
- Tabi
omg, your post just reminded me of the office episode where the bat gets into the office and Dwight traps it on Meridith’s head with a trash bad.
Honestly though, I probably would have reacted the exact same way you did. I dislike… creatures. Bat, spiders, creepy crawly things. Ick.
- Ashley
So. Bats are rad.
I also am working on switching over to wordpress. It’s like having to learn web design all over again :|

I got my wisdom teeth out right before I started college. It was some pretty painful stuff.
And ew on the bat. It’s not that they’re gross looking, because I don’t mind the look of a bat. It’s that they are likely disease and flea infested. I don’t want that anywhere near me.
- Valorie
Eeek. I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 15, but it was over summer vacation. Are you getting all 4 out at once? Cause it’s better to just get it over with than wait on it.
- Arwen
Ooh wisdom teeth. Ow :(
I love watching old Disney movies - it makes me feel like such a kid again. I read Alice in Wonderland for Uni last year and it really is the maddest of books! Funny though - I think I laughed to myself on the train a few times and got some funny looks.
I wish I still had some old Disney movies - I feel like watching now
- Siobhan
I love bats. I hope it was ok. They’re my favorite animals.
I started watching “alex” in wonderland but didn’t finish… it looked rather interesting, starting with a man having a bath with a little girl and telling her a weird story.
- snez
I was reading this during class, and I laughed out loud, when the rest of the class is being quiet, it’s like oops .. >.>
Anywayys I think its funny with the bat, but whoaa that it would actually come into a home, that’s like weird o.o lol. Very eventful though, wish crazy stuff like that would happen over here. *sighs*
- Meili
LOL! A BAT! HOLY SHIT. That’s epic. You should’ve named it. Hahaha.
- Cris
A bit me once…it had gotten into my house, my uncles were hell bent on killing it, so I took a badminton bat and kinda forced the bat flat on my bed. While trying to get him, the lil sob bit me.
Anyway, I didnt die of rabies cause you see this happened about 8 years ago

Haha, I’m probably the only person in my house who isn’t freaked out by bats who fly around over our front lawn at night during the summer.
They never come in the house and they eat all the obnoxiously huge swamp mosquitoes, so I see no harm in them!
- Skogul
hahahahaha! oh man. i cant breathe
- claire
I hope the wisdom tooth removal went as well as it could be.
EW @ Bat. I’m so scared of bats.
- Cherrie
Yikes!!! We sometimes used to see bats flying around at night where we used to live… I was only about 5 or so…it was really scary. haha.
