Rivers Cuomo
Whenever I listen to Weezer there is always this thought in the back of my mind – like a pebble in my shoe. I knew there was truth to it but felt nobody would know what the fuck I was talking about, or perhaps write me off as a crazy feminist, but this is my blog so I’m going to say it:
Rivers Cuomo is a fucking sexist.

I am in complete agreement with everything they’ve said because I’ve had a similar experience with (sub-mainstream) popular culture. All of my favorite movies and books seem to be written by these sexist assholes but it’s never been enough to make me read chick lit or something. Anyway, you should read their post because I couldn’t say any of this better than they already have.

Oh my god, everything I’ve ever known is a lie. Seriously? I love Pinkerton and The Blue Album and the list goes on, and I’ve NEVER noticed his sexist lyrics until right now! I definitely see it now. But I still love those albums to pieces.
I read about half of that blog entry (it’s really long!) and I definitely see what the author is saying. I mean, look up the lyrics to ‘Getchoo’.
I think the fact is is that we still live in a sexist society in disguise. I mean, don’t even get me started on all of those action movies and tv shows starring a guy and some love interest who does nothing but act as the hot damsel in distress. It’s probably one of the biggest reasons I stopped watching ‘Lost’.

rivers cuomo isn’t so much a sexist as he is a privileged pseudo intellectual with a sense of entitlement. if he expects his girls to make him sandwiches and stroke his ego, then who can blame him? i’m gonna take off now… someone needs to warm the toilet seat for him and fluff his pillow for his post-bowel movement nap. he gets cranky.
