I have been DYING to get my hair cut (no pun intended). It has been way too long, and I finally have money to do it! (thanks Justin) So what many people don’t know, even people who actually know me in “real life” is that I have ridiculously long hair. I mean, past my ass! It’s now the longest I’ve ever had it, my length usually averages to my lower back. I only wear it down after showers to air-dry or to braid it so it can be set in silky waves. Other than that, it’s up in clips and messy buns or funky ponytails that make me look like I only have shoulder-length hair. I’m not trying to hide it, I’m just bored with it and tired of dealing with it in my face.

So anyway, I’m getting it chopped off. Now, “chopped off” to me is about… 18 inches or so. Which would still leave me with hair to my elbows, which is still pretty long compared to all of today’s little pixie cuts. I figure I will just add some layers and fix up my disgusting side-swept bangs. I really love that chick’s hair to the left, what do you think? (click it!) The texture is the same as my own and her color is similar although a little lighter than mine. I want something long enough so that I still feel like Ashley, but short enough to where I can wear it down without sitting on it or getting stopped on the street by old ladies to chat about it (which is flattering, but still aggravating).

I’m a bit of a hippie when it comes to putting gross shit in my hair. I never dye it or blow-dry it and ultimately just want something natural and feminine. Something no-fuss and pretty. Sometimes I feel like the last girl on the planet left with long hair. Actually, like 3 years ago when everyone had super short hair I was like “I’ll stick this out because soon my hair will be cool again” and sure enough, here’s Paris Hilton and every other lamer wearing hair extensions. But in the end, I think I have the Mariah Carey complex and I’ll just never have really short hair. It’s my security blanket.

So this fella over at thereasoner.com tagged me and as much as I hate memes (how the fuck do you pronounce that anyway?), I figured that I need to update, and this would be really easy since I don’t have to actually transition from one topic to the next and can just throw a bunch of random shit together and still get comments. How is that for honesty? Actually, a better question might be “How is that for a run-on sentence?”

1) I use the Caps Lock key to capitalize letters more than the Shift key, it’s a terrible habit.
2) Although being Vegetarian since age 12, I still miss eating McDonald’s cheeseburgers.
3) I’ve have had stitches on my bottom lip (dog bite), on my thumb (river tubing accident, sliced my hand open on a rock) and on my forehead, above my right eyebrow (I fell on a sharp trashcan when I was 9, haha).
4) I’ve had an obsession with Geoff Rickly of the band Thursday since I was 15. It’s probably unhealthy and Justin can’t stand it. It isn’t physical attraction, it’s more about his writing, music and personal life.
5) I’ve never been drunk.
6) Despite being an honors student throughout school, and getting a 3.5-3.8 GPA, I dropped out and got my GED in 11th grade due to social problems in my new school. I’m still ashamed of it to this day and try not to talk about it.
7) I have a half-sister that I’ve never met and probably never will.
8) I was a Ward of the Court for most of my life.
9) I’m terrified of curling my eyelashes and I chicken out whenever I try.
10) I hate painting my nails and even taking it off, so I usually have this ugly chipped-polish look that drives my Dad crazy. He tells me “it looks trashy”.

Stevie Wonder - 'I Just Called To Say I Love You'

… another dollar. Justin said he’s sending me money in the mail this year instead of a bunch of cute furry things and candy. Fine by me! I’m without Justin today, but this isn’t something that devastates me. I’ve never been that into V-Day, it’s just nice to be around someone who loves you. Everyone is with their everything, and I’m not. So it’s more of a jealously thing, or maybe I like to prove that “Hey! I’m not single, sucker!” - don’t take offense to that. There’s nothing wrong with being single. How do I know? Why, from Sex and the City of course!

Last night over the phone with Justin, I came up with an incredibly awesome idea for a website. I was looking online for a site that listed all hardcore/indie show dates in Buffalo NY, since we’ll be living there shortly. Surprise, surprise - there wasn’t one! This is my next project. Justin tells me there used to be one called buffaloshows.org but that it went down and hasn’t been around for a couple of years. I’m really excited to get started so I’ll be installing a CMS (Joomla!) somewhere just to get a feel for it. Then, when I’m confident I can handle it, I’ll buy a domain and go live. What do you think?

The Locust - File Under 'Soft Core Seizures'

There’s not much to write about. I redid my hosting layout, so that kept me from being bored for about an hour. It’s been snowing like crazy here, nearly everyday and it’s great because it hasn’t felt this winter-like all year. My mom’s car door is actually frozen shut somehow (I know right?) and I was supposed to go to the mall tonight because I need new jeans so badly. Oh well, maybe tomorrow or Monday?

I spent like an hour and a half getting this stupid last.fm plugin to update the site with songs played on my ipod and it is finally working! I might add a “recently played” list to my nav bar but I’ve been resisting for forever because if I play something corny like Elton John or Michael Jackson, I wouldn’t be thrilled for it to pop up on my list, haha Not that I’m embarrassed by them, but… well, maybe I am a little bit.

Justin has looked at 5 or 6 apartments by now and while he liked a few of them, it seems like Buffalo doesn’t have many cheap ones that are really renovated. I mean, in Harrisburg we lived in a building over 100 years old and it at least had a dishwasher and new stove. We might have to settle for something crappy and it pisses me off I need to get the hell out of here though so I’d pretty much settle for a cardboard box right about now, lol.
