Harry Potter and the British Invasion

The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations

Eleven million copies in a single day! That’s a big fuck you to The Beatles…

So I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows tonight. Don’t worry, there are no spoilers here, although I am sure 75% of my fellow bloggers have read the 7th and final book already (you dorks!) wink It was a struggle to get through it all because Justin and I had to share just one copy. We played a sort of back-and-forth game trying to beat one another to the finish, but in the end, I won (if only by a few chapters). I was so excited to read this book and it reminded me of when I was still living in a group home, and after the staff would call “lights out” at night, I’d lay up in my bunk with a small book light reading Harry Potter until 3 in the morning, only to wake up for school a few hours later. Memories like that really do make me feel old, I was 14 then…

So anyway, I’m sad to see the series end but I’m sure there will be about a hundred Potter-related books and merchandise to come. It will be another Star Wars, mark my words!!

My tailbone hurts.

Weezer - The Sweater Song

I’ve had to sit Indian-style on the floor a lot lately and my butt hurts soooo bad. Whether I sit or stand… ouch!

Anyway, I’ve been really bad at keeping this site updated and returning comments to all of you lovelies nice enough to read my attempts at blogging. It’s not that I’ve been busier than usual (although I wish it were so), I’m just going through that “blogs are boring” phase we all experience now and then. I’ve been updating my scans site though, so I am not a total slacker blush And about that: I found out a little bit ago that my beloved Jane magazine will put out it’s last issue this August. Indeed it was a better read before Jane Pratt left, but I’m still terribly sad to see it go. I don’t know what to replace it with - perhaps Nylon? Does anyone have a recommendation?

In the past 11 days, I’ve visited the Modern Art museum with Justin and his grandparents, I ate over-priced Italian food at the Italian Festival here in Buffalo, and I found all 96 exits on Super Mario World. As exciting as these things sound (not) I can’t say with much confidence that any were “accomplishments”. I’m sort of stagnating. I never do anything. I suck at life.

But I did take this awesome (and hilarious) photo of Mr. Bojangles in Justin’s arms… which may make up for my total lack of productivity the past few months. What do you think?

This week was…

The Blood Brothers - The Shame

quite typical, and filled with lots of two-player games of Monopoly. We have both of our air conditioners installed now. They’re rigged with lots of plywood and insulation tape, but that’s what you do when you have an apartment with oddly-shaped windows that are wider than they are tall and open out instead of up. I don’t like the look of it, but if it fights the heat, I am all for it.

I ordered an extra cat5 cable so hopefully I will get these computers networked in the next few days so I don’t have to use Justin’s laptop anymore. The apartment is really coming together and it’s looking good. We have this huge 50lb mirror we have yet to hang up, but Justin doesn’t have big enough screws so it just sites here on the floor, scaring the cat of his own reflection.

Tomorrow Justin and I are going to the movies with his mom and sister, and then on Thursday his sister is coming here to spend a few nights with us. I think we’re going to the art museum and doing something with his grandparents sometime this week, but I forget. We need a fucking calendar! Post-it notes will not do any longer!

The other night I had a nightmare that my brother died and my mom and I were going through his belongings. sad It was scary because it felt so real and I woke up thinking he was actually dead. Imagine my relief when I realized it was only a dream. It is said that we dream about 7 times per night, yet in the past 6 years I have probably only remembered 10 of them, this dream included. I really miss my adventures biggrin

Happy 4th!

John Denver - Sunshine On My Shoulders

So it’s Independence Day and everything but Justin and I aren’t going out to see the fireworks tonight. It’s been raining like crazy and it’s just ugly and wet outside. Hopefully we will catch some from our window or maybe from outside our building. This will be the first 4th of July fireworks display I ever remember missing. Oh well cry

I found this awesome Elliptical machine on craigslist for $75, practically brand new. Justin and his mom are picking it up for me tomorrow afternoon. I can’t wait to start exercising again, I haven’t had much physical activity since I moved to Buffalo. In Harrisburg, Justin and I used to go for bike rides together pretty often. I feel gross just being so inactive the last few months.

My mood has raised a little since my last entry. I know how depressing it must have been to comment on. People like reading “happy” blogs but I haven’t been able to live up to that lately.
