V-Day rundown / Europe 2009

It has been too long, folks. What’s keeping me from my keyboard? I’m pretty sure it’s the lack of a desk, here in Buffalo. Sitting on the floor with a keyboard on one leg and a mouse on the other is miserable… especially if your legs fall asleep as quickly as mine. mad

Justin had to work on Valentine’s Day, but we managed to catch a movie late that night, which was really nice. I’m on a restrictive buckle-down diet, so going to dinner would have been a no-no. I’m happy I got to spend the holiday with him, because we didn’t spend Christmas or New Year’s Together, and I was starting to feel boyfriend-less.

The even more exciting part of this entry (although it might be a bit premature?) is what Justin and I keep high-fiving about: EUROPE 2009, muthafucka! Justin, myself, Chris (Justin’s childhood friend) and his girlfriend, Brandee, are planning a 1-month trip across Europe next summer, together. We’re all thrilled, but I think I’m definitely most hyper about this. It is at least 16 months away and I am already staring at my atlas and routing an itinerary and outlining how much this would cost. I FUCKING LOVE TO TRAVEL!

Some of you have been my friend, affiliate, or reader for a long time, so you might remember that Justin and I traveled to Barcelona, Spain in the summer of 2005. However, it was more of a vacation (not too much tourist stuff) and we’d like to go back to Europe and see other countries and travel by train and sleep in crappy hostels instead of 4 star hotels. In Barcelona, we were only kids. I was 18 and he was 19, and I don’t think we were very smart when it came to spending, planning, or transportation for those 2 weeks. My excuse is that we had just recently met in-person at the time, so we were obsessed with each other, and didn’t pay enough attention to our lovely surroundings. Anyway, more to come on this topic in about a year, haha.

Return to Hoth!

Simon & Garfunkel - The Sound Of Silence

So I’ve been back in chilly Buffalo, NY since late Tuesday night. I took a bus at 12:45 that afternoon and didn’t arrive until 11:10 pm. I had to wait in Syracuse for 2 hours, which was rather boring. In Rochester, some border police checked everyone on the bus to make sure we’re all legally in the country. So there were a few holdups that added to the time, but the trip was decent overall. No one sat next to me with a smelly salami sandwich like on my last bus ride. I’m pleased. laugh I had to take my computer on the bus with me as carry-on. It’s like 25 pounds or more and I had to carry a million other things…

Since I’ve been home, Justin and I have just been watching movies, playing Nintendo and listening to music. I finally gave Justin his Christmas presents. I got him a few records (Orchid, Ampere, The Blood Brothers) on some pretty cool colored vinyl and I got him some books (E.E. Cummings, Orwell, etc) and a couple other tiny things. Anyway, things have been mellow so far, which is cool. I went to his job for a little and we hung out and ate Doritos. He’s lucky that he has such an unrestrictive job, and works all his shifts alone. He just got a raise, too woot

Next week I need to do a lot of stuff to get back on track, including setting up a dentist appointment and figuring out the rest of this college paperwork shit. I’m sort of dreading that, especially since I have to come up with money for testing and whatnot. Ugh.

When I have time, I’ll probably get to work scanning more magazines, because I have them stockpiled from when I was gone, and my scans site is laying there idle.
