Configuring Outlook Express 6

If you have an email account at your domain – these instructions will help you set up your mailbox in Outlook. The examples in the tutorial are for accounts at pink-pistol.net but will work for other servers in most cases. If they don’t, contact your hosting company for specific instructions. Some servers are different!

1) Go to Tools > Accounts > Add and choose “Mail”.

2) Type your name in the “Display Name” box.

3) Type your email address in the box.

4) Enter the server information as shown above.

5) Enter your account name – which will be your email address – and then your password. Make sure you check the box marked “Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)”

That’s all there is to it! If it doesn’t work, check the settings again. Go to Tools > Accounts on the top navigation bar. Choose your account on the left and then click “properties”. Go to the “server” tab and make sure you have “My server requires authentication” checked. Click the “settings” button right next to it and be sure you have “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” checked. Your account should work correctly now.
