Reset Photoshop Settings

If you use Photoshop a lot, I’m sure you’ve had the problem at least once where one of your tools (like the marquee tool or the shape tool) somehow changed and just isn’t working the same as before. Or maybe you were experimenting with different settings and key shortcuts and now you can’t remember how to switch it back. This is how to reset Photoshop so it goes back to using the default factory settings:

  1. If Photoshop is open, save your work and then close the program.
  2. After Photoshop is closed, hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys at once.
  3. Keep the keys held down, and simultaneously open Photoshop or double-click a file that opens with Photoshop.
  4. Once Photoshop loads, you will get a prompt window asking if you want to “delete the Photoshop settings file”. Click yes.

Now you can use PS again without problems!
